Real Wedding: Emily & Brett, Spring Island, Okatie, SC

Emily and Brett were married in a stunning grove of live oak trees under Spanish moss on Spring Island, just outside Beaufort, SC. Emily got ready at a private home with her family, including her nieces and nephew, and even got to spend time with the couple’s beloved dog. After the ceremony, Emily and Brett took photos alone together around the island, including by the tabby ruins, before joining their guests for a tented reception by the marsh. We could not have asked for a more beautiful setting for a wedding. Special recognition goes to wedding planner Katie Huebel, a consummate professional who made our job easier, and to wedding band The Royals, who got everyone on the dance floor. Real Wedding: Laura & Kara, Forsyth Park and Brockington Hall

Laura and Kara were married in front of the fountain in Forsyth Park, and then second lined to their reception at Brockington Hall. Prior to their ceremony, they opted for a First Look in a downtown Savannah square and then we took them for a walk, stopping for portraits in front of historic buildings and on the cobblestone staircases of River Street. After their couple’s portrait session, we met up with friends and family on the terrace of Brockington Hall for a pre-ceremony toast and family photos. We had a lot of trouble editing the photos from this wedding down to just a few favorites, as the portraits of these two brides were especially lovely. Real Wedding: Camille and Alfio, Telfair Museum and Westin Savannah

Camille and Alfio were married at the Telfair Museum, and then we took formal photos and couple’s portraits in Telfair Square and at Forsyth Park. We knew we would be losing light fast, but managed to get some lovely twilight shots by the Fountain before heading over to the ballroom at the Westin Savannah Harbor for their reception. The newlyweds entered the room to “Happy” by Pharrell, and that perfectly captured the mood. Special thanks are due to then-Mayor Edna Jackson who somehow squeezed in a little wedding planning assistance while also leading the city. Real Wedding: Jaclyn & Jarod, Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Charles Morris Center

Jaclyn and Jarod were married at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension and held their reception at the Charles Morris Center. Some of our favorite special moments from their wedding: Jaclyn helping her mom get dressed; the bride and groom holding hands around a door and praying together before their ceremony; the newly married couple exiting the church through a traditional Marine Corps saber arch; all of Jarod’s brothers-in-arms helping him serenade Jaclyn with “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling;” and the couple’s sparkler-lit race to their getaway limo. Real Wedding: Stephanie and Dane, Olde Pink House

Stephanie and Dane wanted spectacular portraits of the two of them alone together all around downtown Savannah, so they hired a pedicab to take them to various locations, including the cobblestone walkways of River Street, the Fountain at Forsyth Park, and Savannah’s historic squares. They had a small wedding – just 40 guests – with the ceremony in Monterey Square and their reception at the Olde Pink House. Real Wedding: Megan and Jimmie, Harper Fowlkes House

Megan and Jimmie were married in May at the Harper Fowlkes House. We had beautiful weather for their ceremony and their couple’s portraits downtown, but got a little rain towards the end of the reception. Luckily the permanent tent in the backyard kept everyone dry and comfortable. Real Wedding: Erika and Connor, Gastonian Inn, Elopement

Erika and Connor were married by Reverend Steven Schulte in an intimate wedding ceremony, with just their parents in attendance, at the Gastonian Inn in July. The Gastonian specializes in intimate weddings and elopements and arranged for a bridal bouquet, personal flowers for the family, and a small wedding cake. After the ceremony and a small celebration with their parents, we took Erika and Connor for a walk in Forsyth Park for portraits of the two of them alone together. We of course extended our military discount to the couple, in honor of Connor’s service to our country.
