The Historic District

Squares, iron, Jones Street

The city was laid out around squares, which means there is a small park every couple of blocks. Each one has its own feel, and I know which ones go quiet and when. Jones Street has oak tunnels, cobblestones and old homes. Broughton Street brings more of a retro city feel near the Lucas Theatre, and River Street has the old stone and the water.

The Secret Spots

After years of living downtown, I have courtyards, stairs and walls I go back to and don't publish. Tell me what you love and I will take you to the right one.

Marrying In A Square

The City's list caps most squares at 50 guests, with Wright Square at 25 and Telfair and Reynolds at 100. Amplified sound is not allowed in most residential squares. If you have fewer than fifty people and no setup at all, the City says you may proceed without a permit, first come first served. Anything with chairs or decor needs one. See the City's weddings page for fees and details.
